Traffic Control Systems are the South Australian and Northern Territory agents for Aldridge Traffic Systems, Australia's leading Manufacturer/Exporter of Traffic Signal lanterns and associated equipment.

Original Technology
Original Lanterns used for traffic signals are the 240V type using incandescent globes of 68 or 100 watts. These lamps usually need replacing every 6 months.

Current Technology
Lanterns currently used in South Australia are extra low voltage (ELV) using either 50 watt or 30 watt lamps. These lamps need to be replaced approximately every 12 months.

New Technology (LED Lanterns)
Lanterns utilizing Light Emitting Diodes (LED) have been developed over recent years. These lanterns have proven to appear more brilliant by producing intense, directional illumination. The production models have now been approved by the relevant authorities allowing for the sale and use throughout Australia. Typically a LED Lantern consumes between 8 & 15 watts depending on the size, and have a life expectancy of 5 - 10 years.
